Humana Vintage – charity shopping  

Based in the centre of the Italian city of Milan, Humana Vintage stocks a range of original clothing and accessories from the 60s, 70s and 80s for women and men. In this vintage store, you can find an array of individual and unusual pieces at reasonable prices – perfect for those who like to be inspired, want a change from the fashion of the day or who are searching for that special piece.
Apart from the selection of vintage shirts, jackets, dresses, skirts etc, Humana Vintage also stocks a collection of vintage wedding dresses; leather and suede clothing; evening wear; vintage style and brand sportswear; second-hand Levi jeans; ethnic jackets and kaftans; army coats (on request); and for those with an addiction to designers, second-hand brand clothing (Armani, D&G, Missoni, Valentino, Replay etc). Also to be found are various accessories, including bags, hats, shoes, scarves, ties and jewellery. In fact, you can never be quite sure what might turn up, such as other objects of interest like textiles, vintage dolls or books, for example.
In essence, there should be something to cater for everyone, whether it be everyday wear, something a little offbeat for costumes or even a vintage wedding dress! With items introduced each day, there will always be something new to look at. However, special pieces typically get snapped up quickly so it is in the interest of patrons to ‘pop in’ regularly in order not to miss out!

All items sold in Humana Vintage are sourced from the sorting of items collected by Humana People to People Italia. Consequently, Humana Vintage is not just limited to what you see on the shelf, but has access to this sorting resource.
If there is a specific type of item you are interested in, for special events, performances or market stalls – individual or in bulk – you can contact our friendly staff and put in a request. We will try to help wherever possible, however, each request must be looked at individually to assess whether it can be reasonably fulfilled. Similarly, the price of an item/items will depend on the availability and extent of search required.
Some possibilities for requests:
Wedding gowns: It is possible to arrange viewings of additional onsite dresses by appointment
Costumes: For requests from individuals or theatre groups who may be arranging performances. Warnings well in advance of an event would be most suitable.
Market stalls: Army gear; second hand clothing or accessories (preferable in bulk)

Charity shopping – Humana People to People ONLUS
Humana Vintage sources its stock from Humana People to People (HPP) Italia ONLUS: A non-profit organisation formed to collect clothes in Italy for sale or onward distribution in order to provide support to international development projects in Africa.
The collection of garments is organised through containers positioned in various municipalities. To date, the ONLUS has entered into collaboration with approximately 450 municipalities in the regions of Lombarda, Piemonte, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Le Marche and Abruzzo to facilitate this activity. Humana People to People Italia Socità Cooperativa a.r.l. works closely with HPP Italia ONLUS to deal with the practical aspects associated with clothes collection.
Once collected, clothes are sorted into different categories: Winter items and other materials are sold to businesses within Italy and Europe to cover operating costs (HPP Italia self finances); summer clothes are sent to local partners in Mozambique (in 9 years, HPP Italia ONLUS has clothed more than 1.7 million people in Mozambique – equivalent in economic terms to a contribution of more than 1 million euro); and vintage clothes are sent to Humana Vintage.
Humana Vintage follows in the footsteps of similar Humana charity clothing stores in Berlin, Vienna, Barcelona, Oslo, Stockholm and Lisbon. The proceeds from sales at these stores support the funding of Humana People to People (HPP) international development projects in Africa (HPP has more than 30 years experience working in Southern Africa in the fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS).
Through specifically purchasing at Humana Vintage in Milan you will contribute, at this point in time, towards two development projects in Mozambique:

• A pre-school for 60 AIDS children orphaned as a result of the AIDS virus – part of the HOPE project
• The Vocational School of Nacala – funds will support the daily running of the school, which gives practical, vocational training to rural students in areas, such as, agriculture, construction and bookkeeping
